Sustainability
Our Curriculum
The White Rose Science Curriculum teaches aspects of sustainability across year groups and we are keen that our children are well educated in such an important topic.
Sustainability is key on our agenda at Kirby and we are working hard to be a more sustainable school. We recycle paper and plastics in school.
What we do in school to be more sustainable
Recycling
We have a recycling box in our reception which is for any empty ink or toner cartridges to be placed in. These are then sent off for recycling and the PTA also receive a small commission for this too! This scheme is called Empties Please. See below for more information:-
Every classroom has recycling bins so that we recycle as much as we can.
Lights in school
We encourage staff and children to turn off lights and equipment when it is not being used. We also have energy saving lighting throughout the school.
Kitchen and catering
We ensure that we use a local company for our fruit and veg deliveries. We also ensure that single us plastic is minimal in the kitchen. The kitchen also recycles food waste.
Uniform
We encourage our parents to use the uniform bank at St Mary's Church in Frinton to ensure that we reuse and recycle school uniform. This obviously helps us to be more sustainable too.
We still have lots more to do, but we have made a good start.
