PE
PE at Kirby Primary Academy.
Our PE vision
At Kirby Primary Academy, we aim to inspire all children to develop a love of physical activity and sport. Through good physical education, whole school values and a whole child approach, we aim to nurture confident, resilient children who will strive for their personal best.
We listen to our children’s wants and needs and we provide them with a range of active experiences, clubs and events. We want to aid our children in obtaining the values and skills to celebrate and respect the success of others, as well as modestly celebrating their own successes.
We aim to ensure that our delivery of physical education allows all children to have the skills and mindset to leave primary school with the capabilities to be successful in their sporting challenges and active lifestyles, at secondary school and further on into adulthood.
We strive to educate both children and their families to develop a greater understanding on how to live healthy lifestyles and make healthy choices. We are dedicated to ensuring healthy minds and bodies.
We have strong links with local clubs and partnerships within our community to ensure that children and families receive the support that they need.
Sporting partnerships and events
At Kirby Primary Academy, we work closely with the Clacton District Primary School Sports Association (CDPSSA), Active Essex and our School Games Organiser (SGO) to provide our children with sporting opportunities and experiences that they would otherwise go without. The events that are organised by these partnerships run throughout the school year, are varied to allow a wide number of children to participate and mix competition with enjoyment, participation and sportsmanship.
Over the course of the school year, we enter a large number of sports events, providing our children with the opportunity to experience both friendly and competitive sports.
CDPSSA:
The association is comprised of member schools which work in partnership to inspire, educate and empower children and young people through sport and physical activity so that all young people have opportunities to reach their full sporting potential.
The vision of the association is to work with in partnership, through a network, to encourage all pupils to be physically literate and provide them with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to create a sporting legacy.
The CDPSSA run large school and small school events throughout the year, including the schools’ and netball leagues and a variety of sports tournaments. The tournaments that the association run are pathway events that lead to county final competitions, and then onto national finals. This provides children with the opportunity to experience competitive sport at different levels.
The CDPSSA also provides staff with CPD opportunities so that teachers are suitably qualified and confident to deliver high quality PE lessons in a wide range of sports.
